Thursday, 8:30 PM Tom casually ask me if I would like to go to California. I merely responded in the most goofy giddy voice “To California!”. It was then settled Tom called his friend who went to San Diego State and whose parents lived in San Clemente to let him know we were headed his way. We decided that we would leave at 7:30 AM the next morning. I rushed back to my apartment and got all of my stuff together quickly and headed back over to hang out and get ready for the journey that lay ahead of us. I was so excited that I got up at 5:30 AM and could not go back to sleep. I proceeded to wake Tom up a 6:45 AM and then at exactly 7:30 AM we were off. We hauled ass making it to Grand Junction with only two stops for food and the bathroom. Then we went into Utah where we decided to stop by the visitor center to gather more info on the state. Then we pushed onward through and through until we were just north of Vegas; Where I decided to pull off into a truck stop. It was all good it looked like it was a giant section of pavement then out of nowhere came a giant pot hole which I then tried to break and go over. That failed as the front right tire of the car went into the pot hole. When then immediately stopped and checked all over the car for damage. Once everything but one wheel well checked out alright we continued on our way. We then decided to drive the Vegas strip since both Tom and I had not been there. Once in Vegas we were both in awe of the wonders and size of the builds on the strip. Once through Vegas we hauled down to San Clemente as fast as possible with only stops to switch out drivers and get gas. Then at around 12 AM local time we pulled up to Matt’s house we got out greeted Matt and his friend Dove and had some food chatted and went to bed. We awoke the next morning in awe of the sight of the Pacific Ocean as the day before we were driving through the snow covered Rockies. We then loaded up to head down to the beach. The waves were too big for Tom and I to surf so we just soaked up the sun and broke out the cameras to get photos of Dove and Matt. After all of that we then headed back to Matts house dropped Dove off. Then we went into San Clemente drove around town and hung out on the pier for a little while before heading back to Matt’s for a steak and potato dinner. Then after dinner was a 45 minute drive to SDSU. Where that night was another story in and of its self and is not related to adventure. The next morning we took a walk all around the SDSU campus. Their facilities and weather were phenomenal. Then after our tour we decided it would be great to head down to Coronado Island Beach. After a few hours on the beach it was time to part ways with our new friends and head north once again. We headed out stopping only for gas and In-N-Out on our way to Vegas that night. Where we stayed at a friend’s house for the night to recuperate for the drive that still lay ahead of us. Then the next morning we were on the road before the sun. With only a couple stops for gas and many hours of driving we finally made it home Monday afternoon.
Definitely one of the most memorable trips I have ever done. Likability 11/10 Thanks as well to everyone out in California that made the trip totally worth while.
