Horsetooth Reservoir Climbing

Horsetooth Reservoir is one of the closest climbing areas to Fort Collins. The natural ridges that lie in between the dammed-up areas provide perfect short walls to boulder on. The 6 mile long reservoir constructed in 1949 is a popular swimming and boating area in the summer. Although the most prominent form of climbing on Horsetooth is bouldering, there is one exception to the preconceived idea called Duncan's Ridge. Read below to discover more.

Areas to climb:
Dunkin's Ridge- an easily accessible wall towards the southern end of Horsetooth Reservoir. It consists of mostly trad routes, and all can be toperoped. In the summer, the walls can get quite hot from the sun due to it's westward facing ridge. If a breeze is present it feels very nice in the hot mountain air.
